I have been leading choirs for 3 years and loving it! I previously worked as a speech and language therapist and then a reading therapy specialist but nothing has ever got me out of bed like leading choirs. Thank you to all of you for your support, your love of singing and your desire to create a beautiful sound!

Maria.
Retired nurse, married to David, have four children and six grandchildren. Enjoy a weekly yoga and art class and of course the choir which has brought me a new interest and friendship.

I have always believed I couldn’t sing and even though I would have loved to have joined a choir I never felt confident enough to do so until about two years ago when I heard about Singing for the Soul and thought I would go along and give it a try! I am so glad I did as I feel so much more confident singing and I really enjoy the sessions. I have made some wonderful friends.

Happily fulfilling one of my retirement ambitions-learning to sing in harmony in a choir- with the bonus of thoroughly enjoying the company of my fellow choir members and the songs we sing.

I was in the choir at school, many moons ago, and have sung with several choirs since then. Singing for the Soul is, however, my first experience of learning by ear and singing unaccompanied – I’m loving the challenge and I think we make a beautiful sound. The added bonus is the friendship, fun and laughter we share on Tuesday evenings!

I’m very retired and I love it. I have three grandchildren who keep me very busy. The youngest one, aged 3 years, lives in Dublin and the other two in Hebden Bridge. I see them regularly. My husband and me love to travel and are off as often as possible, which is the reason I am not at choir as often as I’d like to be. I think Janet and the choir are smashing.

I came to the choir over a year ago and I absolutely love it. Janet is such a good teacher and everyone is so friendly .

The choir always lifts my spirits and I really miss it when I am unable to come. Unlike when I first started coming to choir, like some other members, I thought I couldn’t sing but now I think I can. Also I have made new friends through the choir.

I love our choir, ‘Singing for the Soul’ because that is just what we do!!! You can have had a really stressful day, come to choir and have a good sing, chat and a giggle and all the stress melts away. We laugh giggle and jiggle together. …..you should try it, best therapy going. Thank you Janet xx
PS We also make good music xxxx

Our choir has brought something special to us all. Perhaps because the songs we sing are often about peace and freedom, perhaps because we sing in harmony, certainly because of the way Janet teaches us. Choir night is great fun, we laugh, we sing, we harmonise… We sound so good.

I am seventy one years of age and have been married forty eight years to Alfred. I have two grown up children and five grandchildren. For the last forty years I have been involved with local drama, so have not done the singing I used to when I was younger, but Janet’s methods are a revelation to me – making it seem so effortless, and I am really enjoying it. I also love walking in the countryside, gardening, reading and going to the cinema.

It’s good fun to be a member of our Choir. With Janet our teacher we are a joyful group of ladies, learning to sing all kinds of songs. Why not join in the fun?
